You know what struck me first about Little Trewin? It’s one of those places that feels completely removed from everything, yet you’re actually only about ten minutes from Helston town center. The cottage sits on Godolphin View – and honestly, that name isn’t just for show. You get these sweeping views across the Cornish countryside that sort of make you forget you were probably stuck in A30 traffic just an hour earlier. The whole setup feels properly rural without being isolated, if that makes sense. There’s something about pulling up to Trewin Cottage that immediately makes your shoulders drop – maybe it’s the traditional stone construction or the way it’s nestled into the landscape, but it just feels right.

What really sets this place apart is how they’ve managed to nail that balance between authentic Cornish character and actual modern comfort. I mean, you’re staying in what feels like a genuine cottage (because it basically is), but the heating works properly, the Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out every five minutes, and the shower has decent pressure – honestly, you’d be surprised how rare that combination is in some of these heritage properties. The hosts clearly know what they’re doing, and after chatting with them, you get the sense they’re actual locals rather than just property managers. They’ll point you toward the better walking routes around Godolphin Hill – the ones that don’t end up in muddy dead ends – and they know which days the farmers market in Helston is actually worth visiting.

The location is brilliant for exploring this part of Cornwall without dealing with the summer crowds you get closer to the coast. You’re maybe fifteen minutes from some lesser-known sections of the coast path, and it’s an easy drive to places like Porthleven or even St. Michael’s Mount if you fancy a day trip. But honestly, some of my best moments were just sitting outside the cottage in the evenings with a cup of tea, watching the light change across the fields. The area gets properly quiet after dark – no street lights or traffic noise – which is either exactly what you’re looking for or something to be aware of if you’re used to city sounds. Parking is straightforward (always a relief in Cornwall), and the check-in process was refreshingly simple. With a 9.1 rating, you know previous guests have consistently had positive experiences, and after staying there myself, I can see why. It’s the sort of place that makes you start browsing property websites wondering what it would take to relocate to Cornwall permanently.

  Loved this little getaway, enough for us. It was such a cozy cottage,clean and fully sufficient. Very comfortable. Would come again!

  If you want to visit and discover the gardens ,historic houses or just enjoy the Countryside around Falmouth and the Lizard this is a perfect place to stay.
  Little Trewin is a well equipped,cosy and quiet property perfect for 2 people in Ali,the hostess was jolly,helpful but unobtrusive.The weather was perfect so all in all we had a magical time in Cornwall ( next to England !! )

  It was an excellent property. Easy location to the sea, the town .. the area around it was fantastic.. honestly we have been visiting the area for 15 years and it’s the best place we have ever staid . Gorgeous garden,, if its available I highly recommend this apartment xx

  Idyllic location and great property in a quiet village with private parking and entrance. Local community have different events on in the village hall next door and were so welcoming. Great shop, pub and fish & chip shop a couple of miles away in Praze-an-Beeble a couple of miles away.

  Delightful little cottage for a short stay. Very comfortable bed. Not far from beaches and other amenities. Would love to return in the summer and have breakfast next to the very pretty pond. Oh and don't forget Lucy…the very friendly cat.

  Very comfortable and fairly well equipped. Private and even had a little garden/yard with a pond. Friendly and responsive, yet unobtrusive hostess. 🙏🏼

  It was a really great stay at Ali's place. Everything was clean and in good condition. It is a great place if you're looking for self-catering accommodation. As a bonus you have your own garden and pond which is really nice if you want to start your day slowly and just enjoy the fresh air. Helston is just 10 minutes away by car with supermarkets and shops. Overall a really pleasant experience.
