Honestly, when I first pulled up to Langdon Farm Cottage in Boyton, I wasn’t sure what to expect – the GPS had me winding through some seriously narrow Cornish lanes that made me question if I’d taken a wrong turn somewhere. But you know what? That slightly remote feeling is actually part of what makes this place so special. It’s tucked away in proper countryside, the kind where you can actually hear yourself think and the biggest decision of the day is whether to have your morning coffee inside or out in the garden.

The cottage itself has that perfect balance of old-world charm without feeling like you’re roughing it. I mean, sure, it’s got character – creaky floorboards and all that – but everything actually works properly, which honestly can’t be said for every countryside rental I’ve stayed in. The kitchen’s surprisingly well-equipped (I was able to make a proper Sunday roast), and there’s this lovely sitting area where you’ll probably end up spending way more time than planned just watching the light change across the fields. The owners clearly know what they’re doing – little touches like decent WiFi (yes, even out here), proper heating, and bathrooms that don’t make you feel like you’re camping. Parking’s right there, which might sound obvious but trust me, after navigating those hedgerow-lined roads, you’ll appreciate not having to parallel park.

What really sold me on this place, though, is how it sits in the landscape. Boyton’s one of those villages that most people drive through without stopping, but it’s actually perfectly positioned if you want to explore both the moors and the coast without committing to either. You’re about twenty minutes from Launceston (handy for proper shopping and that excellent farmers market on Saturdays), but you can also reach some brilliant walking territory around Davidstow pretty easily. The cottage feels genuinely peaceful – not manufactured tranquil, but actually quiet except for the occasional sheep commentary from the neighboring fields. I stayed during shoulder season and barely saw another soul, which was exactly what I needed. The 9.4 rating makes complete sense when you experience it yourself – it’s the kind of place that delivers exactly what it promises without any nasty surprises. Sure, it’s not fancy in a boutique hotel way, but it’s incredibly comfortable in that “I could actually live here” way that’s much harder to achieve.

  Cosy little cottage,perfect for our long weekend stay. Comfy bed, it had everything we required. Our two dogs loved running around the paddock. Will definitely return in the future

  The cottage was spotless and very clean. They had put lovely touches to make it so homely. The bedroom was spacious and living room so cosy with a fireplace look. Outside there was a decking area that again was beautifully decorated. We enjoyed sitting out there having some evenings drinks and chilling. It was the most dog friendly accommodation I’ve ever been to and it was really reassuring to have our own private enclosed garden. The cottage was great value for money and the process to get the keys was easy and convenient.

  Lovely cosy cottage well situated for north & south Cornwall. Bed very comfy. Kitchen had everything you could possibly need.
  Loved the outdoor seating area & dog exercise area was added bonus!

  Everything… from the minute we arrived we felt at home! The cottage is so homely and comfortable, modern and clean. Adrian and Gary are welcoming and friendly, they even hosted a pizza night for all of the guests. It’s an ideal place as a base for beautiful beaches ( especially Widemouth and Summerleaze).
  We visited Tintagel which is great and lots of other lovely places which are not too far to get to.
  There are fresh eggs from the resident chickens and my particular favourite was the greeting from Hamish and Bella, their 2 dogs.

  Charming, peaceful, and well equipped cottage. Felt instantly relaxed! Great location for exploring both N and S. Really enjoyed sitting out on the covered decking in the evening with the sound of birds all around. Dog exercise field very handy, as was on site shop. Owner so helpful and friendly.
