Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Lake View 10? It’s actually in Par, which honestly most people drive right through on their way to Eden Project or St Austell, but that’s exactly why this place works so well. I mean, you’re getting proper Cornwall without the tourist circus that swamps places like Padstow or St Ives during summer months.

The hotel itself sits in this sweet spot where you can actually see water glimpses from some rooms (hence the name, though don’t expect sweeping lake vistas from every window – it’s more subtle than that). What I really appreciated was how they’ve kept that 4-star comfort level without going all fancy-pants about it. The rooms are genuinely comfortable, not just Instagram-ready, and the staff actually seem to know the area rather than just reading from a script. Parking’s sorted, which is honestly half the battle in Cornwall, and check-in was refreshingly straightforward – none of that “let me show you seventeen amenities you’ll never use” routine.

Here’s the thing though – the real magic happens when you step outside. You’re literally ten minutes from some of the best coastal walks that most visitors never find because they’re all queuing for the Eden Project (which, fair enough, is pretty spectacular and right on your doorstep). But honestly? Walk down to Charlestown instead – those tall ships and the historic harbor feel like stepping into a Poldark episode, minus the crowds you’ll find at the actual filming locations. The local pub scene is proper Cornwall too, not tourist-trap prices, and you can get to the Lost Gardens of Heligan on quiet morning visits when the light’s actually good for photos. I found the whole area has this lovely rhythm where you can do the must-see Cornwall stuff during the day, then retreat back to somewhere that feels genuinely relaxing rather than like you’re camping in someone else’s holiday brochure. The 8.6 rating makes total sense – it’s the kind of place that just gets the basics really right without trying too hard to be something it’s not.

Reviews

The property sits in the ideal location overlooking the lake. It was very clean and tidy inside and well equipped .Very cosy and warm, the perfect place to stay in January, especially if you want to get away after Xmas.

What could be improved: Key pad outside needs oiling up or replacing as struggled to open it up on arrival.

  • Kim from United Kingdom – 17 March 2024 (9/10)

On arrival, the lodge was immaculate, plus a welcome pack of tea and biscuits went down well after a long journey.
I so enjoyed sitting on the decking every morning, being visited by the swans and a cheeky moor hen while drinking my coffee.
it was a beautiful lodge and became a memorable holiday for myself and husband.
    Would I return? Definitely.

What could be improved: TV kept needing to be tuned in etc, no sooner was this done, then a light aircraft flew over and upset the signal!
Also the front door was difficult to shut.

    Fantastic location

  • Steven from United Kingdom – 21 July 2024 (6/10)

    Location.

What could be improved: Doors need replacing/realigning as very hard to close and lock. Key safe is old and broken, needs replacing. FreeSat doesn’t work, old cables hanging out. Main bed uncomfortable, sheets didn’t fit properly. Main selling point being the lake view – why is there a 6 foot high bush between the caravan and the lake view??
