Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of coastal places over the years, but Kittiwake Cottage genuinely surprised me – and I mean that in the best way possible. You know how sometimes a place looks charming from the outside but feels a bit tired once you’re actually inside? Well, this isn’t one of those places. The moment you step through the door on Middle Street, you realize someone’s put serious thought into making this feel like a proper home rather than just another holiday rental.

The location is honestly perfect if you want to feel like you’re living in Port Isaac rather than just visiting it. You’re literally steps from the harbour – I could hear the gentle clatter of boat rigging from the bedroom window, which sounds like it might be annoying but actually becomes quite soothing after the first night. The cottage sits right in the heart of the village, so you’ll find yourself wandering down to the Slipway Hotel for a pint or grabbing fresh crab sandwiches from the little shop without even thinking about it. Actually, fair warning – parking can be a bit of a puzzle during peak season (we’re talking proper Cornish narrow streets here), but there’s a village car park just up the hill that’s about a three-minute walk. Not ideal when you’re hauling luggage, but honestly, once you’re settled, you won’t want to use the car much anyway.

What really sets this place apart is how they’ve managed to blend luxury with that authentic cottage feel. The interiors are genuinely stunning – someone clearly knows their way around interior design – but it doesn’t feel precious or untouchable. The kitchen actually works for cooking (you’d be amazed how many holiday cottages get this wrong), and the living spaces are arranged so you can spread out even when the weather turns. I particularly loved the little reading nook upstairs – perfect spot for morning coffee while watching the fishing boats head out. The beds are seriously comfortable too, which matters more than people realize when you’re spending days hiking the coastal path. One tiny thing though – the cottage does get a bit echoey with the stone walls, so if you’re traveling with light sleepers, just keep that in mind. But honestly, with the sound of the sea right outside, it becomes part of the charm. This is the kind of place that makes you understand why people fall in love with Cornwall and start dreaming about moving here permanently.

  Super well furnished house with everything you need. Clean and tidy with modern features while retaining its traditional cottage features. Great location.
  
  What could be improved: My wife cut her finger on the curtain rail (in the lounge) at the top trying to pull the curtains shut. Some bits of metal from the rail/bracket were left in her wound.

  This is one of the most amazing places we have ever stayed. Traveling often and to many countries this is one of the favorite places we had the opportunity to stay in! The decor is beautiful, the location is prime and the propoerty is as special as Port Issac! We had the pleasure of being able to have dinner at Outlaws and it was also fantastic.

  Where to even begin?! This was one of the most incredible homes we have stayed in in our lives. Impeccably renovated, decorated, furnished and located – this property is well worth your booking. When we got home we immediately bought all the linen and towels from the same company used throughout the house they were so luxurious!
  I could sink into the lounges and spend an entire weekend cozied up in the living room – the kitchen was well stocked with all the utensils and crockery you’d ever need and two dining areas to enjoy meals (especially as cooking is a breeze considering the kitchen is so well equipped!). Each bedroom had a dedicated bathroom plus one additional full family sized bathroom which makes it so easy to travel in groups of couples. Finally the location was second to none with the marina right outside the front door. It’s a little tricky to navigate down the narrow street to, but once you’re there you are right in the middle of everything Port Isaac has to offer. We will absolutely be back!
