Hotel Description

You know what hits you first at Journeys End? It’s not just the sea views – though honestly, they’re pretty spectacular from up on the headland – it’s how quiet everything gets once you step inside. I mean, Coverack isn’t exactly bustling to begin with, but this place feels like you’ve found some secret perch above it all.

The cottage sits right on Headland Cottages (which, let’s be real, is basically just a cluster of stone houses that look like they’ve been there forever), and from the windows you get this sweeping view across Mount’s Bay that changes completely depending on the weather. On clear days you can actually see all the way to the Lizard Point lighthouse, but honestly, I loved it just as much when the mist rolled in and made everything look moody and dramatic. The whole setup feels properly Cornish – none of that polished holiday park nonsense, just solid stone walls and windows that frame the coastline like paintings.

What really makes this place work is the details that someone clearly thought through. The heating actually works well (not always a given in these old coastal cottages), there’s proper thick curtains for when you want to sleep past sunrise, and – this might sound silly but it matters – the shower has decent pressure. You’re about a five-minute walk down to Coverack’s tiny harbor, where there’s a decent pub and a little café that does proper Cornish pasties, plus the South West Coast Path literally runs past your door if you’re into walking. Parking’s right there too, which is brilliant because trying to navigate these narrow Cornish lanes with a car full of luggage is nobody’s idea of fun. The only thing I’d mention is that it can get a bit windy up there – we’re talking proper headland exposure – so maybe pack an extra jumper even in summer. But that wind is also what keeps the air so fresh and makes sitting outside with a cup of tea feel like some kind of meditation. It’s the sort of place where you end up staying in more than you planned, just watching the light change on the water and feeling like you’ve properly escaped whatever chaos you left behind.

Reviews

  • Catherine from United Kingdom – 19 May 2025 (9/10)

Location was perfect, just off the southwest coastal path which we had been walking and about 10 min walk from Coverack harbour. House was well furnished with comfortable beds. Having milk, tea, orange juice and biscuits on arrival was a lovely extra. Owners were very quick to respond to messages.

Journey's End is in a perfect location for a relaxing break. It's on a headland just a short walk into the lovely coastal town of Coverack, or an even shorter stroll down to the secluded little beach below the main building. The flat itself is well thought out, and has everything you need for a lovely holiday, with a small but well equipped kitchen, a comfortable dining/living room, and two decent bedrooms. It's clearly a labour of love for the owners, and communication with them was great throughout our stay. We can only recommend it wholeheartedly!

What could be improved: Nothing. We loved it!

  • Elizabeth from United Kingdom – 15 April 2025 (8/10)

Excellent location for exploring the coast and the Lizard Peninsula.
    Thoughtful welcome.
    Clean and comfortable.
Everything we needed for a few nights away in Cornwall.
    Good/friendly communication with owners

What could be improved: There was a slightly musty smell in arrival but it may have been due to house being empty for a few days? Smell went after we opened the windows and didn’t return when we closed them again.

  • Linda from United Kingdom – 26 February 2025 (8/10)

Lovely property on the headland, direct access to South West Coast Path.

  • Michael from United Kingdom – 3 November 2024 (9/10)

Coastal walk on the doorstep. Comfortable indoors with good facilities. Plenty of free parking. Suggest you choose the inland start to the coastal path walk, past the sculpture park as the path below the garden heading west is tricky.

What could be improved: Only very limited sea view from the upstairs bedroom. Yet it sits behind the old hotel boasting fabulous seaviews.

  • Marcin from United Kingdom – 24 October 2024 (8/10)

    Everything, very clean, decoration

What could be improved: Nothing, everything was perfect

  • Janusz from United Kingdom – 20 October 2024 (8/10)

What could be improved: Everything excellent

  • Patricia from United Kingdom – 10 October 2024 (8/10)

A stunning location surrounded by the sea and very peaceful. The property was lovely and very well equipped. The hosts had left some provisions to get us started which was a nice touch. I wish we could have stayed for longer, but we will return.

What could be improved: Nothing, everything was perfect.
