Honestly, when I first pulled up to Huckleberry, I wasn’t expecting much from the name alone – but this place completely caught me off guard in the best way possible. It’s tucked away on this gorgeous private lane that feels like you’ve stumbled into some secret corner of Cornwall that the crowds haven’t discovered yet. You know what I mean? That feeling when you find somewhere that’s clearly special but hasn’t been Instagram-ed to death.

The hot tub situation is actually brilliant – and I say this as someone who’s usually skeptical about holiday home hot tubs (too many disappointing experiences, honestly). This one’s properly maintained and positioned so you can soak while looking out over proper Cornish countryside, not someone’s back fence. The two parking spaces might sound like a small detail, but if you’ve ever tried to navigate Newquay’s streets in summer with a car full of beach gear, you’ll understand why this matters so much. No circling around looking for spots or wondering if you’re about to get a ticket.

What really makes this place special though is that farm shop next door – and I mean literally next door, like a thirty-second walk. The owners clearly know their stuff because they stock all these local products you won’t find in the usual touristy spots. I ended up buying the most incredible Cornish cheese there, plus some proper local honey that I’m still thinking about months later. It’s one of those happy accidents where you pop in for milk and come out with half a week’s worth of genuinely good local food. The location itself is pretty clever actually – you’re close enough to Newquay that you can hit the beaches and nightlife without any hassle, but far enough out that you’re not dealing with the chaos of staying right in town. I could hear the sea on quiet evenings, but no drunk tourists stumbling past at 2am, which is honestly the sweet spot for a Cornwall holiday.

The whole setup feels like staying at a really well-thought-out friend’s place rather than a generic rental. Someone’s clearly put proper care into the details – good shower pressure, kitchen actually equipped for cooking real meals, WiFi that doesn’t cut out every five minutes. Small things, but they add up when you’re trying to properly relax. I mean, that 9.6 rating doesn’t come from nowhere, right? During my stay, I could see why people keep coming back – it’s got that rare combination of being comfortable enough that you want to spend time there, but positioned perfectly for exploring everything Cornwall has to offer. Whether you’re planning beach days or countryside walks, this feels like the kind of base camp that actually enhances your holiday rather than just being somewhere to sleep.

  Absolutely amazing!!! I don’t even know where to start! From walking in we was just amazed with how clean, presentable and high tech the house is! The bedrooms are all brilliant sizes all fully equipped with wardrobes/drawers/ hangers. Theres a Morrisons and McDonald’s just 3minutes drive round the corner, 10mins drive into Newquay town close to everything you need! Beautifully decorated to even the little touches of notes left round the home to help you along the way! Claire was extremely helpful even getting back to me at 4am which was appreciated if we needed anything they was on stand by! Board games for the children, high chair, cot provided for baby! An absolutely beautiful home we didn’t want to leave and would absolutely love to come back! We have stayed in a lot of different houses but this tops them all.

  Spotlessly clean & equipped really well; one of the best we have ever stayed in. The beds were so comfortable; huge TV; kitchen full of great quality cookware & white goods; plenty of hot water; comfortable garden furniture; somewhere to hang wetsuits & surfboards & an outdoor shower; it was all really fab! So much thought has gone into this place. ❤️
