Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Meadow Lakes Holiday Park – you know how these holiday park accommodations can be hit or miss. But the Hot Tub Lodge actually surprised me in the best way possible. It’s tucked away in this surprisingly peaceful spot near Hewas Water, and I mean properly peaceful, not just marketing peaceful. You’re close enough to St Austell that grabbing supplies or a proper meal out isn’t a mission, but far enough from the A390 that you won’t hear traffic all night (which, let’s be honest, matters more than most people admit).

The lodge itself feels more upmarket than I expected – someone clearly put thought into the finishes rather than just slapping together the cheapest holiday rental possible. The hot tub is obviously the star here, and it’s positioned so you get this lovely view over the water without feeling like you’re on display to everyone walking past. I spent way too much time in there during our October stay, even when it was properly chilly outside. The whole setup just works, you know? Inside, everything felt clean and well-maintained, which isn’t always a given at holiday parks. The kitchen’s actually functional too – not just a token kitchenette but somewhere you could genuinely cook if you wanted to save money or just fancied staying in.

What I really appreciated was how quiet it stayed even during half-term week. The park management seems to have their act together, and the other guests were generally the sort who understood they weren’t the only people trying to relax. You’re perfectly positioned for exploring this bit of Cornwall too – the Eden Project is basically on your doorstep, and you can easily get to some of the quieter beaches around Mevagissey without dealing with the Newquay crowds. Plus, there’s something quite nice about coming back to your own hot tub after a day of trudging around tourist attractions. The whole experience just felt more grown-up than your typical holiday park stay, if that makes sense. For what you’re paying – and given that 9.7 rating from other guests – it’s actually pretty decent value for Cornwall, especially if you’re traveling outside peak summer madness.

  We had a wonderful Christmas stay at this lodge, it was perfect for our family! The location was ideal – peaceful and close to everything we wanted to visit. The lodge itself was spotlessly clean, cosy and well-equipped, making it feel like a home from home. Being pet-friendly was a huge bonus as we could bring our furry family member along to enjoy the holiday with us. The hot tub was a great addition, offering a relaxing way to unwind after a day of festivities. Thank you Sam and Nathan!

  Beautiful location, the hot tub was a lovely temperature, really quiet area but it is end of November so unsure for rest of year. Easy to drive to supermarkets or anything you'd need.
