Hotel Description
Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of holiday homes around Cornwall, but Honeycomb Lodge actually surprised me – and I mean that in the best way. You know how sometimes these rental properties promise the world and deliver… well, not quite? This isn’t one of those places. It’s tucked away in the Padstow Holiday Village, which sounds a bit theme-parky when you first hear it, but honestly it’s just a well-maintained cluster of properties that feels more like a proper neighborhood than a tourist trap.
The five-minute drive to Padstow thing? They’re not lying, though I’d give yourself eight if you’re unfamiliar with these winding Cornish lanes – they’re properly narrow and you’ll want to take your time, especially if you’re meeting a tractor coming the other way (which you will). What they don’t tell you is that you’re also brilliantly positioned for the Camel Trail if you’re into cycling, and there’s this little farm shop about two minutes down the road that does incredible Cornish pasties. I mean, better than most of the touristy places in Padstow itself, if I’m being honest.
The lodge itself has this cozy, actually-lived-in feel rather than that sterile holiday rental vibe. Someone clearly put thought into the details – proper blackout curtains (thank god, because summer mornings start early here), a coffee machine that doesn’t require an engineering degree to operate, and enough hot water for everyone to shower without negotiating who goes first. The kitchen’s well-stocked too, which matters when you’ve dragged back fresh crab from Padstow harbor and want to cook it properly. Parking’s right there, which is brilliant because finding a spot in Padstow during peak season is basically a blood sport. The Wi-Fi actually works throughout the house – not always a given in rural Cornwall, where some places still act like broadband is a mythical concept.
What really sold me was the quiet. You’re close enough to everything that matters, but far enough out that you’re not dealing with the chaos of Rick Stein pilgrims wandering past your window at all hours. Evenings are properly peaceful, just the sound of sheep in the nearby fields and maybe the occasional car heading home from the pub. It’s the kind of place where you can actually unwind without feeling like you’re missing out on anything important happening in town.

Debbie from United Kingdom – 3 November 2024 (8/10)
It was light & bright, had lots of good features. Well equipped kitchen, oven, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine in the hallway. Very good wifi. Smart TV.
What could be improved: Not for a long time have I stayed in a place that didn’t provide a hairdryer. Really nowadays a basic necessity. The Lodge itself was a bit ‘frilly’ for our taste. Although only maybe a couple of years old a few of the window blinds were broken which meant you couldn’t put them down (or up) easily or at all. The Double bed was very springy & when the other person moved you also moved. No mattress protector or pillow protectors to help keep the bed in reasonable condition.Dawn from United Kingdom – 6 October 2024 (9/10)
Really lovely clean, comfortable modern lodge. Situated in a perfect location near Padstow.
What could be improved: Mattress’s were a little uncomfortable, could feel the springs digging in but didn’t spoil our overall stay.Peter from New Zealand – 20 September 2024 (9/10)
Great accommodation. Close to Padstow
What could be improved: Nothing to mention.Paul from United Kingdom – 30 June 2024 (10/10)
