Hotel Description
Honestly, when I first pulled up to Hengar Manor Holiday Park, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from Lodge 16 – but this place completely surprised me in the best way. You know what struck me first? How quiet it actually is here, even though you’re technically on a holiday park. The lodge sits in this really nice spot where you get that countryside feel without being completely cut off from civilization.
The space itself is brilliant for bigger groups – I mean, four proper bedrooms that sleep nine people comfortably is no joke. What I really appreciated was how they’ve set it up so it doesn’t feel cramped, even with a full house. The living area actually flows really well, and there’s enough seating where everyone isn’t fighting over the good spots on the sofa. The kitchen’s properly equipped too, not like some of these places where you’re stuck with one sad saucepan and a broken can opener. We ended up cooking quite a bit because, well, with nine people eating out gets expensive fast, and it was actually enjoyable rather than a chore.
Saint Tudy itself is one of those Cornish villages that feels properly authentic – you’re about twenty minutes from the coast, which is perfect because you can hit the beaches at Polzeath or Rock without the nightmare of trying to find parking right on the seafront. The drive through the countryside is gorgeous too, especially if you catch it in the morning when the mist’s still hanging over the fields. What’s really handy is that you’re close enough to Wadebridge if you need proper shops or supplies, but far enough out that you get that peaceful Cornwall experience. The holiday park has its own facilities if you can’t be bothered to venture out – the kids were obsessed with the swimming pool, though fair warning, it does get busy during school holidays.
I’ll be honest, the 9.5 rating had me a bit skeptical at first (you know how these things can be inflated), but after staying there, I actually get it. It’s those little details that make the difference – proper shower pressure, decent WiFi that actually works, and the place was spotless when we arrived. Check-in was smooth too, none of that hanging around for ages waiting for keys. The only minor thing I’d mention is that if you’re planning on loads of outdoor activities, the storage space is a bit limited, but that’s really nitpicking. For families or groups of friends wanting a proper base to explore this part of Cornwall, it’s honestly hard to fault. You get the comfort and space of a really good holiday home without paying through the nose for it.

What could be improved: Only issue was internet wasn’t working very well but that’s nothing to do with the property and got my children off there iPads for longer which was great for family timeFenton from United Kingdom – 16 December 2024 (8/10)
The house was lovely, modern, clean, and comfortable.
What could be improved: The only thing on the site open was the swimming pool. All other facilities were closed, so not very good value for money.Sophie from United Kingdom – 4 August 2024 (10/10)
I loved the size, plenty of space for our family of 8. It felt so homely. Beds were super comfortable and fresh and everywhere was immaculate. Everything we needed was there and found it really easy to book activities (we only used swimming).. site facilities were perfect, always found a table for the evening entertainment and we loved that it wasn't too busy (we have two autistic children). Owners have really thought about every detail down to the welcome booklets and the little essentials pack. I'd definitely recommend. Thankyou for an amazing stay.
What could be improved: The WiFi was abit of a pain and kept dropping out, wasn't too much of a problem though as it was an excuse to keep the kids out in the fresh air. Location really is in the middle of nowhere which is great for some however we spent most of our time at the beach so had to drive between 30-50 minutes every day. For those wanting peace and quiet, it's perfect. Just our preference. Nothing else to dislike.Hawkins from United Kingdom – 27 December 2024 (9/10)
