You know what? I’ve stayed in plenty of quirky accommodations, but Godrevy Shepherds Hut genuinely surprised me. First off, forget everything you think you know about “glamping” – this isn’t some basic shepherd’s hut plonked in a field. The location alone is incredible, sitting just outside Hayle with those sweeping views toward Godrevy Lighthouse (yes, the one Virginia Woolf wrote about). When you pull up, there’s actually decent parking space, which honestly matters more than you’d think when you’re hauling luggage to what’s essentially a fancy shed.

The hut itself is… well, it’s properly done. I mean, whoever designed this place actually thought about how people live. The bed takes up a good chunk of the space, but it’s ridiculously comfortable – none of that rock-hard camping nonsense. There’s a little kitchenette that’s surprisingly functional, though you’ll want to keep meals simple. The real genius is in the details: proper insulation (it gets chilly near the coast, even in summer), USB charging points exactly where you need them, and windows positioned so you wake up to that lighthouse view. The bathroom situation is compact but clever – everything works, hot water’s reliable, and there’s actually decent water pressure.

What really sets this place apart is the location knowledge behind it. You’re maybe ten minutes from some of the best surf beaches in Cornwall – Gwithian and Godrevy are right there, and if you know the area, you’ll appreciate being close to the coast path without dealing with the chaos of St. Ives parking. The owners clearly get this spot; they’ve included little touches like proper outdoor seating positioned to catch the evening light, and honestly, watching sunset from there with a cup of tea (or something stronger) is pretty much perfect. It gets quiet at night too – no road noise, just the distant sound of waves when the wind’s right. During peak summer it does book up fast, which speaks to how special it feels, but even then it never feels crowded since it’s just the one hut. The whole experience feels thoughtfully curated rather than thrown together, and at this price point, that attention to detail really shows. If you’re looking for something genuinely different along this stretch of coast – and you don’t mind cozy spaces – it’s absolutely worth the splurge.

  A real hidden gem, beautiful surroundings, loved the hot tub and the rural setting , cooking hob worked well and the hobbit wood burner was excellent, bathroom was great and hot water was instant and plentiful. Comfy bed.

  A few small plates and microwave dishes would be useful. Latter supplied on request.
  No comfortable place to sit, A single bed would make more room for a chair. (Available space more suitable for one person)
