You know what struck me first about Godrevy Lighthouse View? The name actually delivers – and I mean, really delivers. From certain rooms, you get this postcard-perfect view of the lighthouse perched on that rocky outcrop, and honestly, it never gets old. The place sits on Menhyr Drive in Carbis Bay, which is basically the sweet spot between St Ives proper and the more touristy bits. You’re close enough to walk into town (about 15 minutes if you don’t mind a gentle slope), but far enough away that you’re not dealing with the summer crowds stumbling past your window at midnight.

The free parking thing is actually a bigger deal than it sounds – anyone who’s tried to park in St Ives during peak season knows it’s either impossible or costs a fortune. Here, you just pull up and you’re sorted. The beach access is brilliant too; there’s this little path that takes you down to Carbis Bay beach, which honestly might be even prettier than Porthmeadow but without half the people. The sand’s that perfect Cornwall golden color, and the water’s surprisingly clear when the weather’s been decent. I spent most mornings with coffee just watching the light change over the bay – there’s something about the way it hits the lighthouse around 8am that makes you understand why artists flock here.

The hotel itself feels properly Cornish without being too twee about it. The rooms are comfortable (though the WiFi can be a bit patchy in some spots – not a huge deal unless you’re trying to work), and the staff actually know the area. They’ll tell you which path to take for the best coastal walk or where to get proper pasties that aren’t tourist traps. Speaking of walks, the South West Coast Path literally runs past the hotel, so you can head toward Hayle for those massive sandy stretches or go the other way toward St Ives Head for more dramatic clifftop stuff. That 9.3 rating makes sense when you stay here – it’s not flashy or over-the-top luxurious, but everything just works. The breakfast is solid, the beds are comfortable, and you wake up to views that remind you why Cornwall gets under people’s skin. If you’re planning to visit during summer, book early because places like this fill up fast, and honestly, once you’ve stayed here, you’ll understand why people become regulars.

  Enjoyed the stay and location. Was very close to everything. Room was beautiful . Had WiFi and sky for kids which was good. Area was nice and clean 👌 would definitely stop there again.. view was beautiful. Price was very decent for where it was.

  Communication with the hosts was really easy and helpful, though we actually never met them.
  Very well located at the entrance of St Ives, you still need a car to go to the harbour.
  Very nice one bedroom flat, comfortable, nothing was missing. Nice far seaview from the bedroom.
  The place was quiet, we slept very well.
  
  What could be improved: A bit expensive compared to the other places we stayed at during our holidays in Devon and Cornwall, but I guess this is St Ives… 🙂
