Hotel Description
You know what? I’ve walked past Fulmar Cottage probably a dozen times before actually staying there, and honestly, I wish I’d booked it sooner. It sits right on Cliff Street – which, despite the name, isn’t actually perched on a cliff edge but runs parallel to the harbor about a minute’s walk up from the water. The cottage has this lovely cream-colored facade that catches the morning light beautifully, and there’s something satisfying about having such a solid 4-star place right in the thick of Mevagissey without paying those crazy harbourfront prices.
The thing about staying here is that you’re properly embedded in village life. I mean, you’ll hear the seagulls at dawn (obviously – it’s Cornwall), but you’re tucked away enough from the main tourist drag that you won’t get the constant chatter of day-trippers wandering past your window. The rooms are what I’d call thoughtfully done – not trying too hard to be boutique-y, but clearly someone cared about the details. Good shower pressure, which honestly matters more than people admit, and the beds are actually comfortable rather than just looking Instagram-ready. The cottage keeps that period character without making you feel like you’re sleeping in a museum, if you know what I mean.
What really sold me on the place was how the owners seem to understand Mevagissey. They’ll point you toward the fish counter at the back of the village shop (tourists never find it), and they know which days the harbor gets absolutely mental with visitors – usually Wednesdays and weekends during summer. Parking can be a bit of a dance in this part of the village, but they’ve sorted something reasonable, and honestly, once you’re settled, you barely need the car. The South West Coast Path literally starts about three minutes from your door, and if you’re feeling lazy, the inner harbor with all the boats and decent pubs is just down the hill. That 9.6 rating makes sense when you experience the whole package – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Cornwall, but everything just works properly, and in a village where half the accommodations are either overpriced or underwhelming, that’s actually pretty refreshing.

Great to have two rooms both with double beds as as taking a break away with my mum. Fantastic location. Beautifully designed inside and high quality finish.
What could be improved: It was all perfectSiobhan from United Kingdom – 18 February 2025 (10/10)
Fantastic little cottage where the guests comfort has been given priority. The owners thought of everything from ensuring you have loo roll, cleaning stuff, bin bags, through to treats like prosecco, milk and coffee machine . We rarely get this anymore when we stay away so it was fantastic to feel our comfort was priority rather than he owner milking every extra fiver!
What could be improved: Last person locked Netflix with a Pin and then failed to sign out when they left so my Yellowstone "binge" dreams went out the window. Not the owners fault. ( I cleared it by the last day but it wasn't easy and used a route not open to everyone)Darren from United Kingdom – 14 November 2024 (10/10)

Cottage is brilliantly located close to the harbour in the centre of town, clean and well-equipped. Delightful view from upstairs bedroom. Instructions re access and parking were really helpful and clear. Parking permit is a bonus. Welcome card and Prosecco were a really lovely touch.

Clearly an excellent location improved by comfortable and stylish accommodation with good quality equipment/fittings/towels etc. Car parking arrangements appeared somewhat daunting especially as the free car park was closed on arrival but worked out very well. We would highly recommend Fulmar Cottage and would be happy to visit in the future.
What could be improved: Possibly a light over the bathroom sink would be useful but really nothing to criticize.Martin from United Kingdom – 8 June 2024 (9/10)
Property was as described on the Booking.com site. Nicely laid out, very clean. Kitchen was very well equipped and had everything that was needed.
What could be improved: Nothing.Elaine from United Kingdom – 23 April 2024 (10/10)
Location and standard of the property
What could be improved: Not being able to park close to property but you do have a parking permit and not the end of the world to walk to carDebbie from United Kingdom – 18 April 2024 (10/10)
We loved everything about this beautiful fisherman's cottage, a perfect stay in a wonderful location
