Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Ocean One – I mean, apartment buildings right on the beach can be hit or miss, you know? But walking into Apartment 30 at Fistral Beach, I actually said “wow” out loud. The place has this modern, clean vibe that somehow doesn’t feel sterile, and the views… well, let’s just say you’re going to spend way too much time staring out those windows at the waves rolling in.

What really got me was how thoughtfully everything’s set up. The kitchen actually has proper knives (traveler’s dream right there), and there’s enough space to spread out without tripping over your suitcase every five minutes. You can hear the ocean from pretty much everywhere in the apartment, which sounds like it might be annoying but it’s actually this constant, soothing background soundtrack. The location is sort of perfect – you’re literally steps from Fistral Beach, which locals will tell you is the best surf spot in Newquay, but you’re also close enough to walk into town when you want proper fish and chips or a pint. I found myself popping down to the beach in the morning with coffee, then wandering up Pentire Avenue later for groceries without needing the car.

The building itself is well-managed – I mean, the lifts work, the hallways are clean, and honestly the other guests seemed pretty respectful. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle during peak summer (aren’t you glad someone warned you?), but there’s usually something available if you’re not too picky about walking an extra block. Check-in was smooth, though I’d recommend confirming the key pickup details beforehand. What really impressed me was the attention to detail – proper blackout curtains for those 5 AM summer sunrises, decent Wi-Fi that actually works, and a washer that doesn’t sound like it’s trying to escape. The 9.7 rating makes total sense once you’ve been there a few days. It’s one of those places where you start planning your next visit before you’ve even packed to leave. If you’re coming to Newquay for the surf, the scenery, or just to properly unwind, this spot delivers without trying too hard to impress you.

  We loved everything about this apartment. Jane and Jon are lovely hosts and have thought of everything to make your stay the best you could hope for. The apartment is lovely and clean, with plenty of extra blankets and pillows. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need and the milk and prosecco which was left was a lovely touch. The location is spot on, with less than a 5 minute walk to Fistral and a 5 minute drive into Newquay central. As regular visitors to Newquay, this was by far the best apartment we've stayed in and will now be our first choice (I've already booked for again this year).
  I couldn't fault this apartment and would recommend to anyone looking for a comfortable and affordable stay in Newquay. Thanks again Jane and Jon!
