Hotel Description

Honestly, when I first pulled up to West Cottage at Goldsithney, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect – you know how vacation rental photos can be deceiving. But this place actually delivers on what it promises, and then some. It’s tucked away on Primrose Hill in Perranuthnoe, which if you’re not familiar with this stretch of Cornwall, is one of those villages that feels properly Cornish without being touristy. The cottage itself has that solid, weathered look that screams “I’ve been here longer than your great-grandmother,” but inside it’s been done up beautifully without losing any of its character.

What really got me was how quiet it is here – I mean, you’re maybe a ten-minute walk down to Perranuthnoe Beach, which is honestly one of the better spots along this coast if you want something less crowded than the bigger beaches near Penzance. The cottage sits high enough that you get these glimpse-of-the-sea views between the hedgerows, especially from the upstairs windows. The owners (part of Finest Retreats) have clearly spent time thinking about what actually makes a stay comfortable – proper shower pressure, a kitchen that’s actually equipped for cooking real meals, and thankfully, decent wifi since let’s face it, even on holiday someone’s going to need to check email. Parking’s right there too, which might sound boring but trust me, after driving those narrow Cornish lanes, you’ll appreciate not having to squeeze into some impossible spot.

The whole area’s brilliant for exploring if you’re into that sort of thing – Marazion and St. Michael’s Mount are maybe fifteen minutes by car, and you’re perfectly positioned for hitting up the Penwith Peninsula without dealing with Penzance traffic every day. I actually found myself just hanging around the cottage more than I expected though. There’s something about the way the light hits the garden in the late afternoon, and honestly, after a day of tramping around coastal paths, sinking into their sitting room with a proper cup of tea felt pretty perfect. The 9.3 rating makes sense once you’ve stayed here – it’s not flashy or trying too hard, just genuinely well-done in a way that feels effortless.

Set in a quiet location off the main street of the Village of Goldsithney. 2 friendly pubs within walking distance. Bus route into Marazion, Penzance if you want to leave your car at home. Walkable to Perranruthnoe Beach, where there is a lovely cafe over looking the beach. Accommodation was homely had everything you needed. Lovely views from upstairs.

What could be improved: Het is een vochtig huis.
