Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about the Treknow Summerhut? It’s actually tucked away on Atlantic Close in a way that feels deliberately hidden – like someone wanted to keep this gem to themselves. I mean, you’re literally a stone’s throw from all the King Arthur mythology madness of Tintagel, but somehow this place manages to feel completely removed from the tourist chaos that can overwhelm the main village during summer months.
The “summerhut” name is honestly a bit misleading because this feels way more substantial than any hut I’ve ever stayed in. It’s got this lovely rustic-meets-refined thing going on that Finest Retreats seems to nail consistently. What really impressed me was how they’ve managed the sound situation – you can actually hear the Atlantic from here (hence the street name, I suppose), but it’s that pleasant distant rumble rather than the full-on crashing you get right on the clifftops. Perfect for sleeping, actually. The 4-star rating feels about right, though I’d argue the experience punches above its weight. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward – none of that overly fussy hotel rigmarole, just practical and friendly.
Here’s the thing about the location that you won’t get from most descriptions: you’re positioned perfectly for exploring Cornwall’s north coast without being stuck in the Tintagel parking nightmare. I could walk to the castle ruins in about fifteen minutes, but more importantly, you’re also close to some of the area’s best coastal walks that most visitors completely miss. The South West Coast Path section toward Boscastle is absolutely stunning, especially in late afternoon light. And honestly? After spending days tramping around Dartmoor and the coastal paths, coming back to this place felt like having a proper retreat rather than just another overnight stop. The whole setup feels more like borrowing a friend’s really nice holiday cottage than staying in typical accommodation. There’s parking right there (which is worth its weight in gold in this area), and you’re far enough from the B3263 that you don’t get the constant summer traffic noise. That 9.3 rating makes complete sense once you’ve spent a night here – it’s the kind of place that gets the details right without making a big show of it.

My recent stay at this holiday cottage was absolutely magical! This place is a true oasis of peace, perfect for escaping the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The cottage is incredibly cozy, spotlessly clean, and fully equipped – everything you need is right there.
The surroundings are breathtaking – beautiful nature, fresh air, and wonderful tranquility. Mornings on the terrace with a cup of coffee and the sound of birds singing are pure bliss! The owners are extremely kind, very helpful, and take care of every detail to ensure a comfortable stay.
If you're looking for a place to relax, be close to nature, and enjoy complete comfort – this is the perfect choice! We will definitely be back!
