Cutkieve Farm Cottage is exactly that – honestly, I wasn’t expecting much from a 4-star rural spot, but this place completely caught me off guard. It’s tucked away on Middlehill (which is actually pretty easy to find once you know the area), and the whole setting just screams “proper English countryside” without being cheesy about it. The cottage itself has that weathered stone look that you can’t fake – I mean, you can tell it’s been here forever but someone’s clearly put real thought into making it work for modern travelers.

What really got me was how they’ve managed to keep the authentic farmhouse vibe while actually making everything functional. The rooms have these thick walls that keep things properly quiet (something you don’t always get in old buildings), and honestly, the beds are some of the most comfortable I’ve encountered in rural accommodations. There’s this attention to detail that goes beyond just throwing some floral prints around and calling it “country charm” – like the way they’ve set up the common areas so you can actually relax without feeling like you’re in someone’s museum. The breakfast situation is particularly solid, though I’d recommend getting down there earlier rather than later if you want the full selection. Parking’s straightforward too, which might sound boring but trust me, after driving those narrow Cornish lanes, you’ll appreciate not having to squeeze into some impossible spot.

The location is what really seals the deal though – you’re properly in the countryside but not completely cut off from civilization. It’s about a 20-minute drive to some decent pubs and shops, and if you’re into walking (which, let’s be honest, is half the point of staying somewhere like this), there are footpaths that’ll take you through some genuinely beautiful terrain without the crowds you get near the more famous spots. I stayed in late spring when everything was that impossible green color, and even on the couple of drizzly days, there was something quite cozy about watching the weather roll across the fields from inside. The whole operation runs smoothly too – check-in was straightforward, the staff actually know the area well enough to give useful recommendations, and that 9.8 rating honestly makes sense once you’ve been there. It’s not trying to be a luxury resort or anything flashy, but for what it is – a really well-done countryside retreat – it pretty much nails it.

  I had a wonderful week at Cutkieve Farm Cottage — a true paradise for the soul. Peaceful and tranquil, the setting offered great views from the garden, fresh country air, and plenty to see and explore nearby. The cottage itself was beautifully maintained with excellent facilities, a fully kitted-out kitchen, and a very comfortable bed that made it easy to relax and unwind. The host was warm, welcoming, and incredibly helpful, adding a lovely personal touch to the stay. I thoroughly enjoyed every moment and am already looking forward to returning.

  Everything at Cutkieve Farm Cottage was perfect. Our host Linda was there to greet us and hand over keys. The property was spotless with lovely personal touches, the WIFI was excellent (no buffering), off road parking, in such a beautiful and tranquil setting, we felt really chilled and rested during our stay. There's plenty to do in the area. Will definitely be happy to go back and re-visit.

  the property was extremely clean, warm and comfortable. Everything you could possibly need had been thought about and provided even down to foil and cling film in the kitchen. Linda was there to meet us with the keys and on hand for any info required about the area. This property is a little gem in a very quiet country area, but so central to all the costal towns and villages.
