Hotel Description
Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of places along the Cornish coast, but this spot on Restormel Road honestly caught me off guard – and I mean that in the best possible way. The name isn’t kidding about those views over Mount’s Bay. You wake up and there’s St Michael’s Mount just sitting there in the distance like something out of a postcard, except it’s real and you’re actually seeing it from your window while you drink your morning coffee.
The thing about Newlyn is that most people just drive through it on their way to Penzance or Land’s End, but staying here? You’re right in the heart of this working fishing village that still feels authentic. I mean, you can walk down to the harbor in maybe five minutes and watch the boats come in with the catch – there’s something pretty special about that morning ritual. The house itself sits up on the hill (Restormel Road has a bit of a climb, just so you know), which is exactly why those views are so spectacular. It’s one of those Victorian terraced houses that’s been done up really thoughtfully – you can tell someone actually cares about this place rather than just cramming in as many beds as possible.
What really got me was the attention to detail. The rooms are comfortable without being fussy, and honestly, when you’ve got that view of the bay, you don’t need much else. I stayed during late September when the summer crowds had mostly cleared out, and the light in the evenings was just incredible – all golden and reflecting off the water. You’re close enough to hear the gulls and the gentle sound of waves, but far enough up the hill that you’re not dealing with any harbor noise at night. Parking was straightforward too, which if you’ve driven around this part of Cornwall, you’ll know is actually a big deal. The hosts clearly know their stuff about the area – they pointed me toward this little coastal path that connects to the South West Coast Path, and I ended up having one of those perfect Cornish walks where you forget what time it is. Plus, you’re literally a ten-minute stroll from some proper good fish and chips in Newlyn, and if you want the full Penzance experience with shops and restaurants, that’s just next door. I’ve got to say, after years of trying different places along this stretch of coast, this one just gets it right – the location, the views, the genuine local feel. It’s the kind of place that makes you understand why people fall in love with Cornwall in the first place.

What could be improved: Can't fault it.Gill from United Kingdom – 16 May 2025 (9/10)
Lovely roomy house. Great layout. Lovely garden area. Bedrooms spacious and comfy. Kitchen well equipped. Spacious lounge and TV room too.
What could be improved: Nothing about the property. I found it a very steep walk down to Newlyn and very steep on the way up-too steep for me who is a bit older!Alexandra from United Kingdom – 1 January 2025 (10/10)
Every nice place, very comfortable for 4 adults and 4 kids.

Katy from United Kingdom – 25 September 2024 (10/10)
Practical , clean and great to have parking , arriving with Mikk in the fridge was a lovely touch
What could be improved: Could do with some lighting on the steps in the garden as the evening are getting extremely dark, and can be a little tricky coming in and out in the evening , especially in the rain 😅Jerry from United Kingdom – 25 August 2024 (9/10)
good location, very quiet, very spacious (only 4 adults staying on our trip) loved the coffee machine and nice touch supplying plenty of capsules (also other things like clingfilm, washing machine capsules was good.Getting in touch with host was very easy.
What could be improved: kichen cupboards could do with a spruce up (some didnt have handles)
and towels were a bit old.everything else was great.Louise from United Kingdom – 15 August 2024 (9/10)

it is such a stunning house with a crazy view! Would not regret booking the place. A lot of cute little local seafood restaurants nearby. What a shame we are only staying for one night this time for the weekend but will definitely come back and consider to stay there again
What could be improved: I wish I could stay there for longer XDRichard from United Kingdom – 20 June 2025 (10/10)
