Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of places around Cornwall, but this little apartment on Grant’s Walk really caught me off guard – in the best way possible. You know how sometimes “rustic” can mean “barely functioning plumbing”? Well, this isn’t that. The Charlestown theming actually works here, probably because you’re literally a stone’s throw from the historic harbor where they film all those period dramas. I mean, you can practically smell the sea salt from the windows, and honestly, walking down to the actual Charlestown Harbour takes maybe three minutes if you’re dawdling.

The apartment itself feels like someone who actually cares about design put thought into every corner. The rustic touches – weathered wood details, maritime bits and pieces – don’t feel forced or tacky like some places I’ve been. There’s this cozy sitting area where I spent way too much morning time with coffee, just watching the light change. The kitchen’s properly equipped too, which matters if you’re planning to grab fresh fish from the harbor or hit up the local shops in St Austell (it’s about a ten-minute drive, parking’s not terrible). What I really appreciated was the attention to comfort – the bed’s actually good, the shower has decent pressure, and there’s enough storage space that you’re not living out of a suitcase. Small thing, but the WiFi works properly, which isn’t always a given in these older Cornish buildings.

Here’s what makes this place special though – the location gives you options. You’ve got the tourist charm of Charlestown right there (yes, it gets busy during summer afternoons when the coach tours roll in, but mornings and evenings are magic). Yet you’re close enough to St Austell for proper grocery shopping, restaurants that locals actually use, and easy access to other coastal spots. The Eden Project’s practically next door if you’re into that sort of thing. Parking’s included, which honestly saves you a headache since finding a spot near Charlestown harbor can be a nightmare during peak season. The hosts clearly know what they’re doing – check-in was smooth, they left useful local info, and they’re responsive without being pushy. At a 9.4 rating, it’s definitely earning those marks. Sure, it’s not a luxury resort, but if you want a genuine Cornish coastal experience without sleeping in some generic chain hotel, this hits the sweet spot perfectly.

  Everything. Facilities and furnishings were phenomenal, and the mattress was incredibly comfy. Brilliant value for what you get. Highly recommend this for people wanting something different to a hotel.

  Lovely and clean every thing you need very spacious great shower ground floor apartment very quiet and in centre of town short walk to shops really enjoyed our stay (we only have one complaint the pillows on the bed were to high which spoiled our sleep)apart from that it was great and I would recommend it

  Great location for exploring the local area. Central to town for ease of eating out. If you like to self cater there is a cooker and microwave, plus dishwasher and fridge. The bed was really comfortable and all bedding, towels supplied and spotlessly clean. The commutation from the owners was very good with clear instructions on how to find the property. Would 100% recommend.
