You’re literally steps from the harbor where fishing boats bob around like toys, and the village’s narrow streets wind up from the water in that maze-like way that makes exploring feel like a treasure hunt. Port Isaac has this authentic working-village vibe that hasn’t been completely overtaken by tourism, though you’ll definitely recognize it if you’re a Doc Martin fan. The coastal path runs right past the village, so serious walkers can head off toward Tintagel or back toward Padstow without needing a car.

The Accommodation

The Golden Lion is practically next door and does solid pub food, while the Slipway Hotel down by the harbor serves decent seafood with harbor views. I mean, you’re in a fishing village, so the crab sandwiches are pretty much mandatory. The village gets busy during summer days when day-trippers arrive, but evenings belong to the guests and locals, creating this lovely peaceful atmosphere where you can actually hear the waves.
