Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of places in Cornwall, but Cobbles Loft in Mousehole actually surprised me – and honestly, that’s not easy to do anymore. The thing is, you’re right in the heart of one of Cornwall’s most ridiculously picturesque villages (I mean, we’re talking chocolate box cover level here), but somehow this place manages to feel intimate rather than touristy. The loft sits on Commercial Road, which sounds busier than it is – it’s basically the main drag through Mousehole, but since cars can barely squeeze through these medieval streets anyway, you’re not dealing with traffic noise.
What got me was the attention to detail that you don’t expect from most holiday rentals. The conversion work is genuinely thoughtful – they’ve kept all the character of what I’m guessing was probably an old fisherman’s cottage, complete with those chunky stone walls that keep things cool in summer and cozy when the Atlantic winds pick up. The space feels properly lived-in rather than showroom sterile, you know? There’s actually room to spread out your stuff without feeling like you’re camping in someone’s pristine display home. And the kitchen – well, it’s equipped like someone who actually cooks designed it, not just threw in the cheapest appliances they could find.
The location thing is pretty special, though I should mention parking can be a bit of an adventure. You’ll probably end up leaving your car in the main village car park and walking down with your bags – but honestly, that two-minute walk through the narrow streets with granite cottages pressed up against each other is half the charm. You’re literally a stone’s throw from the harbor, where you can watch the fishing boats come in early morning (if you’re up for it) or grab fish and chips from one of the places that actually know what they’re doing. The coastal path to Lamorna is right there too – I’d say it’s one of the best stretches of the South West Coast Path, especially on those clear days when you can see all the way to the Isles of Scilly.
What really sets this place apart is that it feels like you’re staying in the real Mousehole, not some sanitized version of it. You’ll hear the gulls in the morning, smell the salt air, and if you time it right in December, you’re perfectly positioned for the famous Christmas lights display that transforms the harbor into something pretty magical. The 9.3 rating makes sense – it’s the kind of place where small things are done right, from proper thick towels to decent Wi-Fi (which matters more than people admit). I’d definitely go back, and coming from someone who’s usually hunting for the next new place to try, that’s saying something.

A very convenient location . The flat is comfortable with everything you need for a short stay.
What could be improved: No spare loo paper! Expensive parking.
