Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about Cliff Edge? The name isn’t just some marketing gimmick – this place literally sits right on the cliff, and when you’re standing in the right room, it honestly feels like you could reach out and touch the Atlantic. I mean, Narrowcliff Road is aptly named for a reason, and this hotel makes the most of every inch of that dramatic coastline position.
The thing about Newquay is that everyone talks about the beaches (which, fair enough, they’re incredible), but what people don’t always mention is how the town sort of cascades down these cliffs in layers. Cliff Edge sits in this sweet spot where you’re close enough to walk down to the main beach action – we’re talking maybe a five-minute stroll to get your feet in the sand – but far enough up that you actually escape the summer madness. During peak season, trust me, that matters more than you’d think. The crowds thin out significantly once you climb back up toward Narrowcliff Road, and there’s something really satisfying about watching all the chaos from your elevated perch while sipping coffee in the morning.
What really won me over, though, was how the place feels genuinely cared for without being stuffy about it. The rooms – well, the sea-facing ones anyway – have these windows that frame the water like living paintings. I stayed during a storm in October (probably not the smartest timing, but honestly one of the best decisions), and watching those waves crash while being completely warm and dry inside was pretty spectacular. The staff seemed to actually know the area too, which is rarer than it should be. When I asked about quieter walking spots, they pointed me toward the coastal path that runs behind the hotel rather than just directing me to the obvious tourist trails. That little detour led to some of the best photo opportunities of the whole trip.
Practically speaking, parking can be a bit of a puzzle – these Victorian-era streets weren’t exactly designed for modern cars – but the hotel sorts that out for you. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward, no lengthy spiels about amenities or upselling attempts. The building itself has that solid, weathered feeling that comes from decades of facing down Atlantic storms, but inside everything feels updated without losing character. You’ll hear the wind when it really gets going, but that’s part of the charm rather than a problem.
The 9.3 rating makes complete sense once you’re there. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Cornwall, but it absolutely nails what it sets out to do – giving you a front-row seat to one of England’s most dramatic coastlines while keeping you comfortable and well-looked-after. If you’re the type who wants to fall asleep to the sound of waves and wake up to seabirds rather than traffic, this is your spot. Just book early if you’re planning a summer visit – places like this that actually deliver on their location don’t stay secret for long.

The property was clean, comfortable and near to shops , restaurants and beaches. Surely a good plato stay if you want to visit Newquay. The owners were prompt in responding and addressing any queries or clarifications during our stay and pre-stay before checking in.
What could be improved: Not able to to think of any negatives. Only one suggestion is to put soap stand inside the shower panel.Jessica from United Kingdom – 15 April 2025 (10/10)
This property is a large apartment so really felt very spacious so me and my boyfriend were able to feel less crammed than other apartments we have stayed in previously. It has all the amenities such as a dishwasher, washing machine, ironing board and iron. Our favourite part about the apartment was the balcony as this is where we ate breakfast every morning of our stay.

It was a beautiful property, clean and spacious and within walking distance of the beach, bars and restaurants. There were lots of lovely touches such as a bottle of bubbly and some valentines sweets for us on our arrival. Any queries we had the owners were really quick to answer our questions. Would thoroughly recommend and also looking at a return visit.
