Honestly, when I first pulled into Bumbeldink at the John Fowler Holiday Village, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from a place with zero official stars. But you know what? Sometimes the best discoveries come without fancy ratings. The property sits in Uny Lelant, this quiet Cornish village that feels worlds away from the tourist crowds, and there’s something genuinely refreshing about that. The free parking right on site was a relief — I mean, finding decent parking in Cornwall during peak season can be a nightmare elsewhere.

Location Magic

The location here is actually brilliant, and I get why couples rate it so highly (apparently 9.1 out of 10). You’re tucked away in this peaceful spot near St. Ives Bay, but still close enough to explore the coast properly. What I loved was being able to walk to Lelant Saltings railway station — it’s this tiny halt that connects you directly to St. Ives without the hassle of driving and hunting for parking in that busy town. The coastal path is practically on your doorstep, and honestly, some of the most stunning stretches of the South West Coast Path are right here.

The Accommodation Experience

Bumbeldink operates more like a holiday park accommodation than a traditional hotel, which explains the star rating situation. The units are clean and functional rather than fancy — think comfortable holiday home vibes with everything you actually need. I appreciated having proper kitchen facilities because, let’s face it, eating out for every meal in Cornwall can get expensive quickly. The heating worked well (important for those unpredictable Cornish evenings), and the beds were surprisingly comfortable. It’s not about thread counts or marble bathrooms here — it’s about having a proper base for exploring this gorgeous part of Cornwall.

The Surrounding Area

What really makes this place special is how it connects you to authentic Cornwall. Lelant village has this lovely old church and some decent local walks, plus you’re perfectly positioned between the arty buzz of St. Ives and the more rugged coastline toward Land’s End. The beach at Lelant is actually fantastic for families — much quieter than Porthmeor or Porthminster in St. Ives, but with the same golden sand. I spent hours just watching the tide come in across the estuary. There’s a decent pub within walking distance too, which saved me from cooking every night.

  The location was perfect, and the accommodation was perfect for our little family.

  Very lovely. Clear communication and directions. Perfect stay for a get away. Great view to the forest. Very close to St Ives and Hayle, even penzance isn't far away. There's a bus leading out, so perfect for them days that I didn't want to drive.
  
  What could be improved: The path is on a little incline. No issue for us, just rough on rusty knees.

  The quiet location. The kitchen was well equipped with everything I could possibly need and more. Bed was comfy and the heating in the property was easy to use. Christmas decorations were a nice welcoming touch.
  
  What could be improved: The only negative for me was the sofa. It is quite uncomfortable and sinks in the middle, definitely due to be replaced.

  Location was great – really dog friendly site; they sat and watched squirrels for hours! Bed was comfy and shower was really good

  Location was great. TV packed up but was replaced very promptly! Everything we needed was in the property, facilities were good.

  As for location ,you can not get a better place .its a caravan park but set in woodland with woodland walks

  An absolute beauty of a spot! Being surrounded in nature, the birds, the different trees, all the home comforts, made a curry toasties spag bol the lot! I will continue to come back – I never knew Cornwall was such a magical place, my family and I felt so safe in bumbeldink, I was sad to come back to Bristol.
  
  What could be improved: The dog hairs, as much as I love the fact people get to take their dogs away, the dog who had last visited must of been a big fury chap.

  Located in John fowler's holiday village the apartment is in a quiet peaceful location surrounded by woods. It's a shame it was raining when we were there. Rooms were cosy, kitchen is equipped with all tools for cooking with a dishwasher. There's a launderette nearby.
  
  What could be improved: We were 5 guests but only provided with 4 towels. There were no toiletries. Also, no kitchen towels or foil, make sure to bring some. No wi-fi
