Hotel Description

You know what hits you first at Bucklawren Farm? The silence. I mean, proper countryside quiet where you can actually hear birds instead of traffic – which is wild considering you’re only about ten minutes from Looe’s harbor. This working farm turned accommodation sits in this gorgeous valley that feels completely removed from everything, even though the coastal path is practically on your doorstep.

The place has that authentic farmhouse charm without being all precious about it. The rooms are genuinely comfortable (not just Instagram-pretty), and honestly, the beds are some of the best I’ve slept in. What really got me was waking up to actual farm sounds – sheep bleating, roosters doing their thing – instead of car alarms. The owners clearly know what they’re doing; they’ve managed to keep the character of the original buildings while making everything work for modern travelers. The Wi-Fi actually works properly (always a relief in rural Cornwall), and there’s decent parking, which anyone who’s tried to navigate Looe’s narrow streets will appreciate.

Here’s the thing though – this isn’t just about the accommodation. The location is honestly brilliant if you want to explore properly. You can walk down to Looe in about twenty minutes through actual countryside, or drive in five if you’re feeling lazy. But what most people don’t realize is you’re also perfectly positioned for the quieter bits of coast around Talland Bay and Polperro without dealing with the summer madness. The South West Coast Path runs right past the farm, so you can literally step out the door and be hiking some of the most spectacular coastal scenery in Cornwall. I spent one morning walking to Polperro for coffee and back – took about three hours total and barely saw another soul until I hit the village itself. The farm also does this brilliant thing where they’ll pack you a proper Cornish breakfast to take on walks, which sounds gimmicky but actually makes perfect sense when you’re planning a full day on the coastal path. With a 9.6 rating, it’s clearly not just me who thinks they’ve got something special here – though honestly, part of me hopes it doesn’t get too discovered because places like this are rare enough as it is.
