Hotel Description
You know what’s funny about Bossiney Cove Cottage? I almost didn’t book it because the name made it sound like some generic seaside rental, but honestly – this place completely caught me off guard. It’s tucked right into this dramatic stretch of North Cornwall coastline where the cliffs drop straight down to these wild, rocky coves, and I mean, you’re literally a stone’s throw from some of the most spectacular coastal walking in the country. The cottage itself sits in Bossiney, which is basically a tiny hamlet that most people drive straight through on their way to Tintagel (the castle ruins are maybe ten minutes up the road), but that’s exactly what makes this spot so perfect.
The cottage has this proper Cornish character – thick stone walls, low ceilings in places, that sort of sturdy coastal feel that actually keeps things surprisingly quiet even when the wind’s howling off the Atlantic. I stayed in early September when the summer crowds were thinning out, and the whole area felt like you had it to yourself. Parking’s right there which is honestly a relief because anyone who’s tried to find a spot in Tintagel village during peak season knows what a nightmare that can be. The inside strikes this nice balance between keeping the old cottage charm and having everything you actually need – the kitchen’s well-equipped (I mean properly equipped, not just the basics), the beds are comfortable, and there’s this cozy sitting area where you can hear the sea but not feel like you’re camping. What really got me was stepping outside in the morning with coffee and realizing you’re surrounded by this incredible landscape of coastal heath and dramatic rock formations, with footpaths heading off in every direction toward hidden coves and cliff-top walks.
The location is honestly unbeatable if you want to explore this part of Cornwall without dealing with the touristy chaos. You’re close enough to walk to Bossiney Haven – this gorgeous little beach that’s way less crowded than the main Tintagel spots – and the South West Coast Path runs right through the area, so you can walk for miles along these stunning clifftops. The nearby Rocky Valley with its ancient labyrinth carvings is maybe a fifteen-minute walk, and if you head the other direction, you’ll hit Trebarwith Strand, which has this great beach pub. I’ll be honest, the cottage isn’t fancy in a boutique hotel way, but it’s got this authentic, well-cared-for feel that makes you want to settle in and actually experience the area rather than just tick off tourist sites. Plus, with a 9.6 rating, clearly other people are figuring out what makes this place special too.

The house was perfect for us, so homely but also some lovely furnishings/decor. The kids loved that they were sleeping downstairs and that the layout was flipped. I loved sitting out on the decking balcony with a cuppa. The outside shower for wellies, dogs, etc is a brilliant idea! We would definitely recommend staying here.

Really nice space. Really well-equipped, really nicely done and spacious, with outdoor space.
In a quiet location, about 15 mins walk from Tintagel (20 for those of us who walk more slowly!). Near the Cove.
