Hotel Description

Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places around Cornwall, but this little gem in Polperro really surprised me. The name’s a bit of a mouthful – “Bijou Coastal Apartment in Polperro With Hot Tub Onsite Parking Downhill Walk To Village” – but honestly, it tells you everything you need to know right there. It’s tucked away on Landaviddy Lane, which if you know Polperro at all, you’ll recognize as one of those narrow roads that winds up from the village proper. The apartment itself is genuinely bijou (fancy word for tiny but perfectly formed), and after spending a few days there, I mean that in the best possible way.

What really sets this place apart is the hot tub situation. I know, I know – everyone says they have a hot tub these days, but this one’s actually worth using. It’s positioned so you can sort of see toward the coast, and there’s something pretty magical about soaking there in the evening when the day-trippers have all headed back to their cars. The parking thing is huge too – and I cannot stress this enough if you’ve ever tried to navigate Polperro in summer. Most places down in the village itself, you’re looking at lugging your bags down those steep, narrow streets (gorgeous, but brutal with luggage), but here you can actually park right at the property. Game changer, honestly.

The walk down to the village is where things get interesting. It’s definitely downhill, which means yes, you’re walking back uphill after dinner and maybe a pint or two at The Blue Peter or wherever you end up. Takes about ten minutes if you’re taking your time, maybe seven if you’re eager to get to the harbor. But here’s the thing – that little bit of distance from the village center is actually perfect. You get all the charm of being in Polperro without the noise of people wandering around at all hours during peak season. The apartment itself is beautifully done, nothing feels cheap or rushed. The kitchen’s small but totally functional, and the whole place has this cozy, well-thought-out vibe that makes you want to actually spend time there rather than just crash between sightseeing.

You know what really impressed me? The attention to detail. Fresh flowers when we arrived, proper coffee (not just instant), and the hot water pressure was actually decent – which, if you’ve stayed in many period properties in Cornwall, you’ll know isn’t always a given. The location gives you easy access to the South West Coast Path if you’re into hiking, and you’re close enough to Looe and Fowey for day trips, but far enough from the madness of somewhere like St. Ives. I’d definitely stay here again, especially in shoulder season when Polperro’s still gorgeous but not completely overrun. Just remember – it’s uphill back home after those evening harbor walks.

Very clean with all of what you need for a stay of any length.Heating if and when you want.

    Lovey sundeck.

In the middle of surrounding trees, tucked away.Nature noises vey apparent.

Hosts Helen and Ken were within reach if required .Left scones ,clotted cream jam.Nice touch.

What could be improved: It was about 2 miles of road (detour) to stop you driving thru village.A few passing places helped but could get a little scary if you aren't used to the narrow lanes.

TV had some signal problems but usually switching to the I player sorted it out.

The walk to village downhill was quite steep. Walking back from village was hard work if your not a walker.
