You know what really struck me about Baywatch when I first pulled up? The parking situation is actually sorted – and I mean properly sorted, not one of those cramped coastal spots where you’re playing Tetris with your car. This place sits in Mawgan Porth, which honestly might be one of Cornwall’s best-kept secrets if you’re looking for somewhere that feels properly Cornish without the St. Ives crowds breathing down your neck.

The house itself is one of those spacious family places that actually lives up to the “sleeps 9” promise without everyone feeling like sardines. I’ve stayed in plenty of holiday homes where the ninth person ends up on a dodgy sofa bed, but Baywatch has genuinely thought about space. The games room is a proper win – especially if you’re traveling with teenagers who need somewhere to disappear to, or if the weather turns (which, let’s be honest, it sometimes does in Cornwall). There’s something quite nice about having that separate space where the kids can be loud while the adults nurse their wine and pretend they’re sophisticated. The garden’s lovely too, though you’ll probably find yourself migrating between the outdoor space and that games room depending on what the Atlantic decides to throw at you weather-wise.

What I really appreciate about Mawgan Porth is that you’re close enough to Newquay to pop over for supplies or a night out, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with the hen do chaos or surf school mayhem. The beach here is actually gorgeous – proper golden sand, decent waves if you surf, and rocky pools that keep the little ones entertained for hours. I mean, you’re literally a few minutes’ walk from some seriously good coastline. The village itself is small but perfectly formed, with a couple of solid pubs and that brilliant beachside café that does proper Cornish pasties (not the tourist trap versions). Honestly, the 9.2 rating makes complete sense when you factor in the location, the space, and those thoughtful touches like having actual parking and a games room. It’s the sort of place where you can properly spread out, whether you’re a big family group or a bunch of friends who need their own space but want to be together. Just bring some board games for the inevitable rainy afternoon – trust me on this one.

  Great area, very comfortable and had lots of kitchen supplies and washing machine etc, boogie boards and wetsuits and pool table were great and it was very clean

  A beautiful view of Mawgan Porth. Beautiful spacious property which was spotlessly clean. The jacuzzi was a huge bonus.
