Hotel Description

You know what? I wasn’t expecting much from an apartment rental in Mevagissey – honestly thought it’d be one of those generic holiday lets you see everywhere along the Cornish coast. But this Lighthouse View place actually surprised me. The name isn’t just marketing fluff either; you really can see St. Austell Bay stretching out from the windows, and on clear mornings (which, let’s be real, aren’t guaranteed in Cornwall) you’ll spot the lighthouse doing its thing. The apartment sits right in the heart of the village, so you’re basically stumbling distance from the inner harbor – I mean, you can hear the gulls arguing over fish scraps and the gentle clank of rigging from the boats below. It’s that close.

What I really appreciated was how the place felt lived-in rather than sterile. The kitchen actually has proper knives that cut things, decent coffee mugs, and a fridge that doesn’t sound like it’s dying – small details that matter when you’re planning to cook some of that fresh crab from the harbor market. The living area’s got this cozy, slightly nautical vibe without going overboard with the rope and anchor nonsense. Plus, the shower has proper water pressure, which honestly can be hit or miss in these old Cornish buildings. Parking’s sorted too, which is huge because trying to navigate Mevagissey’s narrow streets during summer season is basically a contact sport. The whole setup sleeps four comfortably, though I’d say it’s perfect for a couple wanting space to spread out.

Here’s the thing about staying right in Mevagissey village – you’re literally in the action, but it’s not overwhelming. Sure, it gets busy during peak summer when the day-trippers descend, but by evening when the tour buses leave, you get this lovely quiet harbor atmosphere back. You can walk to everything: the Lost Gardens of Heligan are just up the road (though “just” might be understating that hill), and the coast path to Charlestown – where they film all those period dramas – starts practically at your doorstep. The Interhome management was pretty responsive too; had a minor issue with the WiFi on day two and they sorted it quickly. Look, it’s not luxury resort territory, but for exploring this bit of Cornwall without feeling like you’re camping or stuck in some soulless hotel chain, it hits that sweet spot. The 8.9 rating makes sense – it’s genuinely well-run, comfortable, and positioned perfectly for both the harbor charm and coastal adventures.

Location was amazing, lovely size for a family of 4, clean and amazing views.

What could be improved: Right next to the social club and after 10:30 the music seemed to get louder and louder and loads would gather right outside in the street smoking and obviously after a few drinks talking louder and louder. Fine with no curtains and blinds facing the harbour but no blinds or curtains facing the social club so no privacy. 2 bedroom was for my children and it should have been 2 single beds not a double bed for the children so one slept in the living room/sofa and with out the blinds the light was too bright to sleep aswell as the noise.
The food was lovely downstairs and the bar was lively and friendly but after paying for a family for food and drinks we were later told that as we were staying there we could have had 10% off the food and drink bill but obviously too late then.
Location was amazing but noise from the social club on Friday and Saturday really lets it down and no blinds/curtains and bedroom situation which is such a shame.

    Location, Location, Location!

What could be improved: Access to the building via the side gate (smelly bin storage area) as the pub / restaurant below was closed for the week. Access to the apartment was next to the pub’s Gents toilet !! Could have been smelly and noisy if the pub was open ! Living room area could benefit from curtains for privacy from the social club directly opposite.

  • Mr&mrs from United Kingdom – 11 January 2025 (9/10)

Location, comfort, staff, welcome, views, proximity to cafes, bars, restaurants, shops, space, etc

What could be improved: No way to make real coffee – take your own cafetiere, we forgot ours.
Curtains/blinds on the Jetty St side would be good for privacy. In the early morning we were waving at the cleaning staff in the social club opposite. We didn't mind, but some might.

  • Nick from United Kingdom – 25 December 2024 (9/10)

Incredible location, spacious property, above a pub for quick access to beers and food. Modern, clean, great views of the harbour.

What could be improved: I wish it had blinds or curtain on the living room & kitchen windows for a bit of privacy. Also, a couple of nights we could hear music from the pub below but wasn’t too loud.

  • Anita from United Kingdom – 25 September 2024 (9/10)

The location was incredible. This cute apartment could not have been any closer to the harbour and the popular street leading to the shops and cafes.

What could be improved: We loved everything about this property

  • Catherine from United Kingdom – 19 June 2024 (9/10)

The location was perfect, beautiful harbour views and over a pub that served lovely food.

  • Carole from United Kingdom – 15 January 2024 (9/10)

Brilliant location. Good size apartment with a great view over the harbour.

What could be improved: Could have done with a towel rail in the bathrooms to dry the towels.

  • David from United Kingdom – 23 April 2024 (6/10)

The location overlooking the harbour is magnificent. The layout of the apartment with large open plan living area was great.

What could be improved: The entrance via the rubbish bins and pub toilets.
The entrance key code didn't work – we got in via the pub.
No instructions for heating, tv, or oven, we were left to figure these out ourselves.
No curtains or blinds in living room – therefore sun in morning and privacy couldn't be managed.
The Oven trays and sink plate-rack needed cleaning.

  • Ute from Germany – 8 May 2025 (8/10)
