Hotel Description
You know what? I’ve stayed at a lot of places along Cornwall’s coast, but Anemone in Porthtowan is one of those finds that makes you want to keep quiet about it – except I can’t help myself. Tucked into Towan Valley, it’s literally a three-minute stroll down to the beach, which honestly beats fighting for parking at the main spots in Newquay. The building itself has this understated charm that fits perfectly with Porthtowan’s vibe – it’s not trying too hard, if you know what I mean. When you pull up, there’s actually decent parking (miracle in Cornwall), and the whole check-in process feels refreshingly personal rather than corporate.
What really gets me about this place is how they’ve nailed the details without making a big show of it. The rooms have that perfect balance of modern comfort and coastal character – think quality linens that actually stay put, proper blackout curtains for those summer mornings when the sun’s up at 5 AM, and windows that open wide enough to get that proper sea breeze flowing through. I mean, air conditioning is nice and all, but there’s something about falling asleep to the sound of waves that just hits different. The staff clearly know the area inside and out – they pointed me toward Chapel Porth for the best sunset shots and mentioned the timing for low tide at Porthtowan when the rock pools are perfect for exploring. These aren’t things you’d find in a generic welcome folder.
Location-wise, you’re perfectly positioned between the quieter charm of Porthtowan and the busier attractions without being stuck in tourist central. The coastal path runs right past – you can walk to Portreath in about forty minutes if you’re feeling energetic, or just wander down to watch the surfers at Porthtowan beach. There’s something addictive about the morning routine of grabbing coffee and watching the surf report come to life. The Blue Bar is practically next door for evening drinks, and honestly, their fish and chips are better than most places that cost twice as much. During peak summer, things get busier obviously, but even then it never feels overwhelming like some of the bigger resort areas. I’d definitely book this place again – and probably will next time I’m down for some proper Cornwall time without the crowds.

The property is in a great location, right by the beach and perfect for a big group. Very clean, spacious and had all the facilities you need to cook etc. Host was lovely and very helpful even put the heating on for us prior to our arrival (we stayed in January) – would definitely recommend and will be back if we’re ever visiting this part of Cornwall again!

Ein super nettes Ferienhaus das alles hat was es braucht für einen entspannten Aufenthalt mit der Familie. Die Lage zum Strand war gut nur etwas steil und es was schön ruhig.
