You’re literally steps from Perranporth Beach, which stretches for miles of golden sand backed by those dramatic dunes the property is named after. The village itself has this laid-back surf town vibe — there’s the Watering Hole right on the beach (yes, you can drink with your toes in the sand), and Chapel Rock creates this incredible backdrop that changes with every tide. What I love is that you can walk to everything, but it never feels crowded or touristy in that overwhelming way some coastal spots do.

The Accommodation

5 The Dunes keeps things refreshingly straightforward. The rooms have that seaside cottage feel without being overly themed — you know, no plastic seashells or nautical nonsense everywhere. What actually matters is there: comfortable beds, decent storage for all your beach gear, and windows that let in plenty of that gorgeous Cornish light. The bathrooms are clean and functional, which is honestly all you need when you’re spending most of your time outdoors anyway. I particularly appreciated having space to hang wet wetsuits and sandy clothes — small details that show they understand their guests.

The Experience

This place gets the rhythm of a proper beach holiday. Mornings start with the sound of gulls and that fresh Atlantic air drifting through the windows. You can grab breakfast in the village, spend your day surfing or walking the coastal path, then return to a peaceful base that doesn’t overwhelm you with unnecessary fuss. The staff seem to genuinely know the area — they’ll point you toward the best surf spots or recommend which tide times work best for exploring the rock pools. It’s that kind of local knowledge you can’t get from a chain hotel.

  The location of this property is the best, just a short walk to the beach, bars and high street. Parking for one car on site.
  
  What could be improved: The only minor thing we think could be improved would be the addition of
  a shelf in the shower rather that putting everything on the floor.

  Location and distance to the beach was first class.
  The amenities and facilities provided were excellent.
  Provision of on-site parking is essential for the area.
  Local facilities although limited are sufficient for an evening beer and meal as required.

  Location was excellent for access to the beach.
  The property was prepared for our arrival, clean and has excellent facilities, although on this visit we did not use them all.
  I requested an early arrival, the property was ready for our arrival.
  
  What could be improved: Only improvement would be darker bedroom curtains as the excellent weather resulted in an earlier start to our days than planned.
  I was pleased that we could arrive earlier than listed and would suggest that an arrangement is made to allow early arrivals to park in the complex.

  Location was excellent. Near to town centre, shops, surrounding towns and beach. Premises were clean, tidy and in excellent condition. One problem with lights quickly resolved by owners. Facilities and equipment provided were excellent.
