Hotel Description
Honestly, when I first pulled up to this place on Rew An Borthva, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect – the address doesn’t really prepare you for what you’re about to walk into. But the moment you step inside this waterside house, you get it. The views across the estuary are absolutely stunning, and I mean the kind that make you stop mid-conversation and just stare. You’re right there on the water’s edge in Hayle, which puts you in this perfect sweet spot where you can hear the tide coming in at night but you’re not dealing with the madness of St. Ives crowds.
The three bedrooms are genuinely spacious – not that cramped holiday rental nonsense where they call a closet with a single bed a “cozy third bedroom.” The master overlooks the water, obviously, and waking up to those estuary views never gets old. Actually, the whole place feels more like someone’s seriously nice home than a rental property, which is refreshing. The kitchen’s properly equipped too (I’m talking decent knives, not plastic tourist-grade stuff), and there’s something really satisfying about making your morning coffee while watching the boats bob around outside. Parking’s right there, which might not sound exciting but trust me, after you’ve circled Padstow for forty minutes looking for a spot, you’ll appreciate it.
What really makes this place special though is the location – you’re literally a five-minute walk from Hayle’s town center, but it feels like you’re in your own little world. The South West Coast Path runs right past here, so if you’re into walking, you can basically step out the front door and be on some of the most gorgeous coastal paths in Cornwall. And here’s something most people don’t realize: Hayle’s actually brilliant for exploring the rest of West Cornwall. St. Ives is ten minutes away, you can get to Penzance in about twenty, and even Land’s End is doable for a day trip. The RSPB reserve is practically next door too – honestly, the birdwatching from the house itself is pretty incredible, especially during migration season. The only tiny thing I’d mention is that it can get a bit breezy (well, it’s Cornwall, what do you expect?), but the house is solid and warm, and there’s something quite cozy about listening to the wind while you’re tucked up inside with a glass of wine, watching the lights reflect on the water.

What a stunning property! Top-quality accommodation with amazing views out over Hayle harbour from the ground-floor master bedroom and first-floor living area. The spacious balconies were the perfect spot for a sundown G&T. We were travelling as a couple but the house would accommodate 6 without any trouble.
There's parking too which is great and it's a short walk into town or up the road to the fantastic beach – all 3 miles of it! There's a Nespresso machine and pods (plus tea and Cornish biscuits) for the all-important morning coffee and Gilbert's Beach Cafe is a 5-minute walk away. Eco toiletries are also provided and a fully equipped kitchen if you prefer self-catering.
There isn't a huge amount going on in Hayle itself (perfect if you want to avoid the usual tourist traps) but it's an excellent location for exploring the far end of Cornwall and coming home to somewhere quiet and peaceful.
Hopefully, the North Quay development will be resumed and completed soon as that will really put Hayle on the map. There are some unfinished developments in fairly close proximity to this completed block but don't let that put you off – the luxury feel of this house and beautiful views over the water more than make up for it.
What could be improved: Some of the areas surrounding Cannery Row are unfinished but it didn't lessen our experience. It just makes you think how amazing it'll all be when the development is completed! Construction was still halted when we were there (May 2025) so noise and site traffic weren't an issue.
