I’ll be honest – I almost drove past 2 Fernleigh Villas the first time because it doesn’t scream “hotel” from the street. It’s tucked into this lovely residential area of Perranporth, and honestly, that’s exactly what makes it so special. You know how some places just feel right the moment you walk in? This is one of those spots.

The thing about Perranporth is that everyone thinks they know it – gorgeous beach, decent surf, bit touristy in summer. But staying at Fernleigh Villas puts you in this quieter pocket where you can actually hear the waves at night (seriously, crack a window and you’ll drift off to the sound). The owners have managed to keep that homey villa feel while making everything work perfectly for guests. I mean, the attention to detail is pretty impressive – proper blackout curtains that actually block light, a shower with decent water pressure (miracle in Cornwall, trust me), and they’ve somehow soundproofed things so you’re not hearing every footstep upstairs. The breakfast situation is brilliant too, though I’d recommend getting down early during peak season because word’s gotten out about this place.

What really gets me is the location – you’re maybe a three-minute walk to the main beach, but you can also slip down to the quieter southern end where the locals go. There’s proper parking (which, if you’ve ever tried to park in Perranporth during July, you’ll know is worth its weight in gold), and you’re close enough to walk into the village for dinner but far enough from the noise when the pubs kick out. The 9.8 rating isn’t just holiday euphoria talking – I’ve stayed in plenty of places that promise the world and deliver soggy toast and thin towels. This actually delivers. Sure, it’s not massive like those big chain hotels, and if you’re looking for a spa or fancy restaurant on-site, you’ll need to look elsewhere. But honestly? Sometimes you just want a place that does the fundamentals really, really well. The kind of spot where you’re already planning your return visit before you’ve even checked out.

    This property is beautiful, obviously newly updated with a lot of care. It has a bathroom, a shower room, very comfy lounge and beautiful kitchen/diner. It’s a short walk from all the restaurants and beach. An added bonus is parking. I would definitely recommend.
