Hotel Description
You know what caught me off guard about Creek View Cottage? The silence. I mean, you’re literally a stone’s throw from the A389, but once you’re inside looking out at Little Petherick Creek, it’s like the world just… stops. The cottage sits right on the water’s edge – and I’m talking proper waterfront here, not some “water view if you crane your neck” situation.
The two bedrooms are honestly better than most hotels I’ve stayed in. The main bedroom overlooks the creek directly, and if you’re there during high tide (which changes everything, by the way), you’ll wake up to this incredible expanse of water that makes you forget you’re in Cornwall and not the Lake District or something. Low tide’s a different story – you get these amazing mudflats where the herons come to hunt. There’s actually a pair that seems to live there permanently. The second bedroom’s at the back, quieter if you’re traveling with kids or someone who’s a light sleeper.
What really makes this place special though is how it feels like a proper local experience without being rustic or uncomfortable. The kitchen’s fully kitted out – I actually cooked most nights because, well, the nearest decent restaurant is in Padstow (about ten minutes by car), and honestly, sitting on that little deck with a glass of wine watching the tide come in beats restaurant atmosphere anyway. The cottage itself is modern inside despite looking traditional from the creek side, which I appreciated after a few days of hiking the coast path. Good shower pressure, reliable WiFi, proper heating – the stuff that matters when you’re actually living somewhere for a week.
Parking’s right there, which might sound boring but trust me, in this part of Cornwall it’s a blessing. And here’s something the photos don’t really capture – the light changes completely throughout the day. Morning’s all soft and misty, but late afternoon when the sun hits the water? It’s almost ridiculously beautiful. I found myself timing my tea breaks just to catch it.
The location’s genuinely perfect if you want to explore but also decompress. Padstow’s close enough for dinner or supplies, the Camel Trail’s literally a five-minute walk if you’re into cycling, and you’re positioned perfectly for day trips to Tintagel or even over to the north coast beaches. But honestly, I spent more time than I expected just sitting by those windows watching the water traffic – little boats heading out from Padstow, kayakers, the occasional seal popping its head up.
Look, Cornwall’s full of holiday cottages that promise waterfront views, but most of them are either ridiculously expensive or disappointing when you arrive. This one delivers exactly what it looks like in the photos, maybe even better. The 9.8 rating isn’t inflated – it’s just a really well-run place in an genuinely spectacular spot that happens to be comfortable and practical too. If you’re the type who books accommodation just to have somewhere to sleep, this might be wasted on you. But if you actually want to spend time at your rental, watching the tides and the birds and feeling properly away from everything, it’s pretty much perfect.

Amazing location, so quiet and we really enjoyed the views over the creek. The property was perfect for us as a family and had everything we could have needed (even plastic plates/cups for kids). Very easy to get to lots of places from and was no more than a 10 minute drive to Padstow. Sadly we didn't get a visit from the resident swans but there were plenty of ducks to feed!
What could be improved: Smaller bedroom blind is very thin so is a bright room but wasn't a problem for us. Well prepared for children but no stair gate at the bottom of the spiral stairs could be an issue for younger children.Caroline from United Kingdom – 3 January 2025 (10/10)
Just a perfect little hide away. Everything you need supplied, accommodated for or organised.

Perfect location for our needs
House was small but had everything we needed from a holiday property.
Little touches about welcome pack and use of items such as coffee machine were great
The external deck overlooking the creek was a delightful place to spend time, especially watching the tide rise & fall
What could be improved: Nothing not lot like.Verity from United Kingdom – 19 August 2024 (10/10)
The location is amazing , a beautiful little house and was so clean and lovely
What could be improved: The stairs are a bit dangerous if you’re not careful on them , you can’t put your hand fully around the hand rail and can only step on the outside of the spiral staircase and they are quite slippery , it’s not ideal while carrying a baby or child , maybe an idea to put something with a bit of grip on them to make you a bit more secure ? Other than that , it’s so lovely and the host wrote a card and left biscuits and the location is so beautiful!!Warren from United Kingdom – 17 August 2024 (10/10)

Everything but the decking with access to the creek and the balcony from the main bedroom were really lovely.

Beautifully decorated and lots of spices and teas and condiments. Made it really easy to feel at home. The Cornwall monopoly was also a perfect addition.

Great location, super cute holiday cottage.
Very very clean and excellent kitchen and bathrooms.
What could be improved: We loved the place! The smaller double bed was a bit noisy not sure if it was from the floor or the actual bed but I’m nitpicking!!
