Honestly, when I first pulled up to 82 Hillside Villas, I wasn’t expecting much – the address doesn’t exactly scream “luxury beachfront,” you know? But this two-bedroom apartment at Millendreath completely caught me off guard in the best way possible. You’re literally a two-minute walk down to one of Cornwall’s more secluded beaches, and I mean actually secluded – not the tourist-packed nightmare that Looe Main Beach becomes in summer (which is just around the corner if you want that scene).

The apartment itself feels like someone’s stylish second home rather than a rental property, which I actually prefer. The kitchen’s got everything you’d actually want to use – proper knives, decent coffee maker, enough wine glasses for a small party. What really sold me was stepping out onto that balcony in the morning with my tea and realizing you can see straight across to Looe Island. The bedrooms are spacious enough that you’re not bumping into each other, and honestly, the master bedroom’s got this dreamy view that makes getting up early worth it. The whole place stays surprisingly quiet too, even though you’re close enough to walk into Looe proper for dinner – parking there is absolutely brutal in peak season, so having a spot included here is clutch.

Here’s what you should know though – Millendreath Beach itself is this lovely little cove that gets completely cut off at high tide, so check the tide tables if you’re planning beach days. The coastal path runs right behind the property, which means you can walk to Looe in about fifteen minutes along some genuinely stunning clifftop views, or head the other way toward Seaton and really escape the crowds. I spent most evenings on that balcony with a glass of wine, watching the fishing boats come back in – there’s something about the light here around sunset that photographers would probably kill for. The 4-star rating feels about right; it’s polished and comfortable without being stuffy, and that 8.7 rating makes sense when you factor in the location and how well-maintained everything is. Just don’t expect luxury hotel services – this is more like borrowing a friend’s really nice place, which honestly beats impersonal hotel rooms any day.

  Villa was lovely, very clean and beautifully decorated with all the facilities you needed.

  The view was AWESOME. The interior was decorated and designed beautifully. Couldn’t fault it! The seats for the deck could be better. They were very, very low. The toiletries were a great addition. Beds very comfortable. There was even milk in the fridge.
  
  What could be improved: To say the steps up to the property were steep was an understatement. There are about 37 very uneven steps of different heights. The walk from the car park is also very steep as you can’t leave car by the property even with a disabled badge!
