Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places around Cornwall, but this little cottage in Sennen honestly surprised me – and I mean that in the best way possible. You pull up on the A30 (which, let’s be honest, can feel like you’re driving to the edge of the world), and there it is: this proper two-bedroom setup that doesn’t try to be fancy but just… works. The 9.5 rating isn’t tourism board nonsense – it’s actually earned.

What got me first was how quiet it is once you’re inside, considering you’re right off a main road. The bedrooms are genuinely comfortable, not those cramped holiday rental afterthoughts where you’re bumping into furniture. Four people can actually live here without stepping on each other, which is saying something. But honestly? The pool access is what sold me. It’s not some tiny splash zone – you can actually swim proper laps, and during those rare sunny Cornwall afternoons, well, you know what happens. Everyone congregates there with their books and pretends they’re somewhere Mediterranean. The kids from other cottages were having an absolute ball when I was there in July, but it never felt chaotic.

Here’s the thing about Sennen that the guidebooks don’t really capture – you’re literally ten minutes from Sennen Cove, which has this brilliant beach that’s not quite as mental as the main Porthcurno crowds but still has proper waves if you’re into surfing. I’d walk down most mornings with coffee (the cottage kitchen is actually well-equipped, none of that single-burner camping stove rubbish), and you get these moments where it’s just you and maybe a dog walker or two. The local pub – The First and Last Inn – does decent fish and chips, though it gets packed during peak season. Parking at the cottage itself is straightforward, which is a godsend because trying to park anywhere near the coast in summer is basically a contact sport. The only minor thing I’d mention is that mobile signal can be a bit patchy, but honestly, that might be a feature rather than a bug depending on your perspective. Check-in was smooth, no drama with keys or confusing instructions. Four stars feels right – it’s not trying to be some luxury spa retreat, but it delivers exactly what it promises, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need.

  Clean and well equiped. Staff very helpful. Esp with resolving a flat battery. Dog friendly was perfect. Large shared garden was ample. Great walks from door.
  
  What could be improved: We found the shower confusing and complicated. As was the TV. Instructions for use for both would have been helpful. Perhaps more tourist info in room.

  The Host Fiona was friendly and very flexible. We requested a late check out and this was agreed, for a reasonable fee. The accommodation was excellent, with glorious cream teas/gam and clotted cream on arrival. Thank you Fioan

  Complimentary scones and jam on arrival.
  Teenage children loved the pool use, even during the rain.
  
  What could be improved: The only negative thing I can think of is that there is a small access point on a wall near to the neighbours drive that one of our dogs was eager to use so we had to be extra cautious in case he jumped it and entered the next doors garden, but that wasn't a major problem at all really as we have to keep a close eye on them all of the time anyway!

  The property was lovely and very clean. Nice big living space and the rooms were very cosy and homey. The owners were very friendly, always happy to help or answer any questions we had. The pool was such a nice addition too. The location was perfect and only down the road from Land's End.

  Beautiful cottage, lovely hostess – the best equipped we have stayed in….thank you, you thought of everything.
