1-bed luxury seafront cabin in heart of Newlyn, Mousehole

Honestly, when I first pulled up to Pembroke Lodge in Newlyn, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from a “seafront cabin” – but this place absolutely delivered. You’re literally steps from the water here, and I mean proper Cornwall coastline, not some distant sea view you need binoculars for. The sound of waves is constant but not overwhelming, more like nature’s white noise machine that actually works.

What really struck me about this spot is how it sits right in the sweet spot between Newlyn’s working harbor (you’ll hear the fishing boats early morning, which I actually loved) and the postcard-perfect Mousehole just around the coast. The cabin itself feels properly luxurious without being stuffy – think quality linens and a kitchen that’s actually equipped for real cooking, not just reheating takeaway. The bed is ridiculously comfortable, and there’s this brilliant little seating area where you can watch the harbor activity with your morning coffee. You know what’s brilliant? The shower pressure is fantastic, which honestly makes or breaks a seaside stay for me after sandy beach walks.

The location is just spot-on for exploring this part of Cornwall. Newlyn’s got this authentic fishing village vibe that hasn’t been completely touristified yet – there’s a proper fish market, decent pubs where locals actually drink, and you’re walking distance to some incredible coastal paths. Mousehole is literally a ten-minute stroll along the harbor (fifteen if you stop to watch the boats, which you will), and it’s one of those villages that looks almost too picturesque to be real. I’d suggest visiting Mousehole in the early evening when the day-trippers have cleared out – it’s magical then. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle in this area, but the cabin has sorted that out, which removes a major headache. The whole Penzance area is easy to explore from here too, and you’re close enough to St. Michael’s Mount for a proper day out. I stayed in October and the weather was moody and perfect, but I imagine summer gets pretty busy around here – though being slightly off the main Mousehole tourist trail probably helps. This is definitely one of those places where the 10-rating actually makes sense.

  The property is in an amazing location with one of the best views of Mount’s Bay. It was easy to park right by the cabin and locate the key safe to gain entry. The cabin itself has been recently built and is immaculately presented, it is clear to tell a lot of thought and effort has been put into making the space as warm and inviting as possible. All of the fixtures and fitting are of a very high quality and the space if full of lots of charming details, including; artwork on the walls by local artists, books about the local area, an artist’s easel on the mezzanine level (with art materials) and comfy bathrobes hanging in the bathroom. The most incredible and unique feature is the view over Mount’s Bay, which you are given a great opportunity to enjoy and appreciate due to the huge floor to ceiling windows. Everything about the space and the experience of staying here feels luxurious. Nick sent over all of the details of how to check into the property ahead of time and messaged to check to see if were happy with our stay, he was very attentive as a host which was very appreciated. Overall I would recommend staying at Nick and Bianca’s cabin, it offers a unique experience in a beautiful location with all the comforts you could ask for.
  
  What could be improved: The only minor two critiques would be the inclusion of a facility to make coffee (which I believe might have now already been added) and a bit more space in the seating area (a bigger sofa or an extra armchair) to sit and enjoy the view from.
